Insert a Picture Into a Cell in Excel. Lock the Picture in the cell so that it moves, resizes, and filters with the cells. Insert Picture into a Cell in Excel. Here are the steps to insert a picture into a cell in Excel: Go to the Insert tab. Click on the Pictures option (it’s in the illustrations group).
I need to insert a comment and then insert a picture to display inside that comment. I am finding many explanations online (YouTube, forums, etc.) for how to do so in previous versions of Office, but I cannot find any explanation for how to do so in 2016 Excel for Mac. My hang-up is editing the format of the comment in order to allow me to insert the picture. There is no 'Comment Format Colors and Lines Color Drop-down Fill Effects Picture' option on my end (which is the solution I found for Office 2011 Mac).
The 'comment format' for me is limited to 'Font, Protection, Alignment, Properties' none of which has the solution, at least to my knowledge. I also, couldn't find anything under preferences that may have been turned off. Can someone please walk me through this, or let me know if it's been removed from this update? I'm losing my mind.:). It seems they forgot that Comment boxes are also text boxes.
You can use VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) to insert a picture into a comment box. This code sample shows how to enlarge a comment box and then insert a picture into it.
Sub FormatMyCommentBox Range('B2').Comment.Shape.Select True Selection.ShapeRange.ScaleWidth 3.53, msoFalse, msoScaleFromTopLeft Selection.ShapeRange.ScaleHeight 3.16, msoFalse, msoScaleFromTopLeft Selection.ShapeRange.Fill.UserPicture 'Macintosh HD:Users:libjbg:Pictures:ubblue.jpg' End Sub I am an unpaid volunteer and do not work for Microsoft. 'Independent Advisors' work for contractors hired by Microsoft. 'Microsoft Agents' work for Microsoft Support. This is so strange! I would think that an 'update' would maintain ALL previously available functions ALONG WITH new and improved options.
WHY would any logical programmer REMOVE an option such as the ability to insert a JPEG into a comment box? This was a very useful function for teachers who would enter a student ID photo into a class roster so that the teacher can learn the name and face of students by simply hovering over the student's name.
I used it for my courses at the collegiate level for many years.and NOW I will need to find another program that allows me to do what I need to do. If this options is not reinstated, then EXCEL 2016 will not be that program. Hopefully the omission was an oversight that will be quickly addressed.
Hi, yes it is possible, I suggest whenever you have time to download the sample I posted on the second post. You may consider this, Select ALL cells, unlock all (Format/Cells/Protection do not click locked nor hidden), then select ONLY the column with the pics (ColumnA per example), lock it (Format/Cells/Protection click locked), then lock your file and choose 'select unlocked cells' 'sort' 'filter' password, click OK. You can filter at your convenience, but you can't move delete of alter the pics. Hope this is close to what you would like to achieve.
